School Vacation Programs
Each February SMARTS holds unique programs for students grades K-8. Programs focus on music, drama, visual arts, STEAM, and more! .

Come and join the fun! Each day the children explore a different culture through dance, drama, storytelling, music and visual arts.
Learning through the arts gives each child an opportunity to use their
creativity and imagination and learn about themselves and their world. A creative and unique class for the curious traveler!
Teaching artist: Nidhi Mehta: Nidhi has her Master's degree of Commerce from the University of Mumbai, India. She is currently pursuing MA Visual Art Certification. She has been a classroom and visual art teacher for over 2.5 years in the US. She has worked as a freelance art teacher for more than 10 years in India. Her passions are art, crafts, music, and travel.
Teaching artist: Mary Ellen (Jardin) Finucane: Mary Ellen is an actress, writer, musician and educator who has been working with children and the arts for over twenty years. She received her BA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in English Literature and did her post graduate studies in Education at Providence College. Mary Ellen is a SMARTS alumni. She has directed many children’s theatre productions in many different places, and is passionate about drama, music, literature and especially being a Mom.
Take a step into SMARTS design lab, where experimentation reigns supreme! Exploring the elements of STEAM, students will work in teams and independently on unique challenges that utilize both everyday and art making materials in researching, developing, creating, and testing prototypes. This is an outside of the box experience that will spark creativity and imagination!
Teaching artist: Nichole Speciale: Nichole is a practicing visual artist working primarily in drawing. She is the illustrator behind Yellow Ochre Studio, which raises awareness for local farms in Southeastern, MA by painting gouache portraits of their produce. She graduated from Brandeis University with a BS in Studio Art and Art History and she did her graduate work at University of California, San Diego where she received her MFA in Visual Arts. Nichole is part of the SMARTS administrative team and taught our Investigation Design after-school club for two years as well as various past SMARTS February vacation programs.

If classes will not be held SMARTS will send out an email to all parents and it will be posted on our Facebook page @SMARTSCollab. We will make every effort to hold all vacation programs, however, always use your own discretion as to the driving conditions.
What to Bring:
Students will need to bring a lunch that includes snacks and drinks for the day (we recommend sending them with a refillable water bottle). Students should also be sent with warm clothes and appropriate outerwear (snow boots, winter jacket, etc..). If the weather is nice enough there may be some time to play outside.
If your child is unable to attend due to illness or any other reason please notify us ASAP.
If your child is ill with a communicable disease please keep them home and notify SMARTS.
In the event a child becomes ill and needs to be picked up from the program, the parent(s) will be called and are expected to come pick the child up within one hour (60 minutes). If the parent(s) cannot be reached, or have not arrived within an hour, the emergency contact person will be called and asked to come pick the child up.
