Wind Symphony

Comprised of adults from surrounding communities, area high school students and students from local colleges, the Wind Symphony offers its members the opportunity to perform a wide variety of music for wind ensemble and concert band. The Wind Symphony 24/25 season will be held at Attleboro High School (A SMARTS member school) with new conductor Mike Konnerth.

Conductor Bio: Michael Konnerth has been a music educator and conductor in the southern New England area for over fifteen years. He currently serves as a music director and pit orchestra conductor for three Rhode Island based theater companies. In addition, Mike does freelance pit orchestra conducting for other groups around the area including shows such as Little Women, Godspell, Suessical, and Carrie.

Besides conducting for theater, Mike has guest conducted with the University of Rhode Island Wind Ensemble where he studied conducting and led the group with several major works of wind band including prominent composers such as Holst, Gould, Welcher, and Milhaud. He has also guest conducted the Ocean State Pops Orchestra with an original composition and several chamber pieces.
As a music educator, Mike was director of bands at Norton High School and is currently music and choir director in Uxbridge, MA., where he cultivates a sense of community, compassion, and personal responsibility. Over the years, many of Mike’s students have joined community groups, honor bands, all state and district level festivals, and gone on to be music majors/minors in college. ​​​

The Southeastern Massachusetts Wind Symphony is supported by the Mass Cultural Council
and Local Cultural Councils supported by the MCC.
