Southeastern Massachusetts Stage Band

The Southeastern Massachusetts Stage Band is a collaboration between the Southeastern Massachusetts Arts Collaborative (SMARTS) and the Mansfield Music and Art Society (MMAS). Their premiere performance took place at the Tweeter Center on July 5, 2001 at the “Not the Fourth Concert and Fireworks” for an audience of 4000. This ensemble is open to musicians ages 14-23 that play strings, percussion, winds, brass, keyboards, synths, guitars (keyboard and guitar musicians must be able to read music). Through an audition the young musicians are selected to play in this unique ensemble. Under the musical direction of Mary Casale, the orchestra plays an eclectic mix of classical, pops, broadway, jazz, rock, and alternative.
